Finding Aid: Tommy the Traveler
Scope and Content
Tommy Tongyai, better known as Tommy the Traveler, came to Hobart and William Smith Colleges in 1969 as a traveling salesman. He later proposed radical political action by the students against the local police. He was arrested for inciting violence among the college students who wanted a peaceful movement.
The contents include numerous newspaper accounts of the happenings while they were unfolding and after the fact as students were arrested and questioned following the encounters with the local police. A film on Tommy the Traveler made soon after everything had happened records the happenings from the students involved.
