Biologist Theodore T. Odell, graduate of the Hobart class of 1920, taught at Hobart and William Smith Colleges from 1921-1965. Odell was a recipient of a Distinguished Faculty award for his services to the school and students. His research focused on freshwater species in the Irondequoit Bay area and Seneca Lake. In 1952, the Colleges reclaimed part of the surrounding land near campus and created the man-made Odell’s Pond. In 1995, the Village at Odell’s Pond was developed. Odell’s Village encompasses both an off campus feel while still having a waterfront view away from the lake.
